Igniting Conversations, Illuminating Minds: A Campaign for a Residential Scholars Center
The Library of Congress brings many of the best thinkers from around the world to Washington to use its vast resources and its ever-growing online collections. But increasingly, scholars are unable to come to the Library because they cannot find affordable housing in the nation’s capital, one of the most expensive housing markets in the world.
The Library is raising funds to renovate a former school building and gymnasium located near the Library for a much-needed residential facility. The exterior architecture, purposeful space, furnishings and general ambiance of the Residential Scholars Center will combine to produce an experience of intellectual richness and inspiration.
The Residential Scholars Center will be a unique home for the pursuit of knowledge in the nation’s capital, attracting outstanding students, teachers and researchers to the world’s largest and most wide-ranging record of human achievement and creativity.
By supporting the Residential Scholars Center, you strengthen the Library of Congress as a community of learning and creativity. Your philanthropic investment helps nurture the minds and spirits of today to enlighten and enrich the lives of people everywhere.
